Is this CIFS share mapped as a network drive to backup server? If so, you can select the required files as a source for file copy/file to tape job and start copying process.

I am trying to do this. I mapped the share to the backup server but in the File Copy job it doesn't let you select network drives as a source, only local disks. Help?

You should be able to add the network drive as a source if it is visible on the backup management server.

I am trying top copy files from a CIFS Share on an EMC storage device \\10.10.10.10\sharename to the K: drive on the serer I have v7 of Veeam Backup and Recovery software. It says Netword path not found when I try to add the IP 10.10.10.10 as a server and I tryed to map a drive, but the software doesn't seem to see mapped drives. I need to copy the data over the backup network and robocopy is too slow coping almost 2TB of data. Any ideas on how to make this work?

Is this CIFS share available from the Windows server that hosts your backup server?

IN my case, I have mapped a drive on the backup server to the CIFS share (Computer bacupsahre(\\10.10.10.10)(Z:)), but I don't see anyway to access it from within the Veeam Backup and Replication software so I can schedule a copy to the K: drive on the same server. The K: drive is attached via SAN, so it shows up in the application.

Ok, I got it. I clicked on file copy, name the copy job, click next, under source, this server is selected, click add and you can see the mapped drive. This worked.

I'm having a similar problem, i'm trying to do file copy job to a NAS, i've mapped the share as Y:, but it's not showing up as a possible destination under "This computer or shared folders" (or as a source either). If i just type it in, using the mapped path, the job fails, not finding the path, if i type the full UNC \\share\path, it finds the share, but then it doesn't have valid credentials (because it never asks for them during job creation) and so it fails. It might help to know that my veeam server is running on a win2012 r2 system.
Any suggestion?

How can i add an administrative CIFS path (like \\fileserver01\home$) as source for a Backup?
If i map a network drive on the backup server it will not show up as a local drive a file copy job.
Neither i can select it when i navigate through the 'network shares' because it's a hidden share.
Also there is no possibility to enter a custom UNC Path...

Any ideas?

Yes that was the first thing i tried because it would be the most logical. But the mapped drive is not showing up.

I was just able to map a hidden share (admin$) from another server to the Veeam B&R console and I can see it among other local disks in the Browse for Files or Folders dialog at the Source step of the file copy job wizard. I recommend contacting support for a short webex session to get assistance with this. Thanks.

Hello, I want to create a file copy job from a network location that is not in the Network location list.

Is there a way to setup a file copy job from a \\IPADDRESS\SHARE or \\SERVERNAME.NOT.IN.LIST.COM\share ?

And to complicate it even more, the destination is not in the same domain as my Veeam service account. I assume I cant supply credentials anyway, and the way around this is to create a local account on the server with the same user/pass as the Veeam service account?

I could map it, and I am sure it will work, when I am logged on in a interactive session. But what happens when the Veeam service account user is not logged in. How will Veeam handle that, the drive will not be mapped then?

After some testing, something that also works. If you have appropriate permissions on the source, you can make a dummy file copy job, then go in and edit the Veeam database directly. DBObjects table, and change the source to your correct source. Make sure you make it Type: 2

Hi all,
I was reading some posts about NetApp, but I didn't found exactly the solution for my issue.
I try to explain what i need on my environment if someone can help us to solve this:

We have a VmWare environment hosted on a NetApp and we've configured some backup jobs of each individual VM to an external disk Station and It works fine. But now we need to copy
some folders that are inside on a NetApp volume, but those folders isn't shared on any server.
I try to use "file copy" but obviously i can't select this folder like a source because is not shared on any server.
Also I added the NetApp as storage infrastructure successful, but we can't see the content of the volumes and we can't copy the files.
Is there any way to do this or it's absolutely necessary to share this folder/s to one of the VM's on the infrastructure??

Yes I selected it. But in the next step when I Add the file or folder we can see the folders on the Lun that corresponds to each VM, but I can't see the folders that I need to copy.

Those are Shared folders, under CIFS. But not mounted on any VM
