what is the best pratiche to backup database Oracle with Red-Hat linux virtual server?

Usually our customers prefer to use pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts for that. Please search these forums for existing topics for more details > backup oracle freeze linux

Well, on linux there are not really other options than scripting :)
With VBR v8 Update1 you can store the scripts centrally in the VBR machine itself without having to deploy them into the linux machine, they will be copied and executed automatically.
For the script content, you can choose to use alter database backup and related commands, or to leverage rman, depending on your needs. I will update this thread once our new whitepaper on Oracle will be released, it's really just few days away...
