off Site

Post by rstone »

Using Veeam V7, I backup to a NAS at a different site. I would like to change this by doing the following :-

1. Move the NAS on site for quicker backups.
2. Buy a new NAS and put it off site.
3. Keep 3 weeks restore points locally and 2 months worth of restore points off site.

Is option 3 possible and is the best way to get the data off site by doing a backup copy?

Thank you…

Haven't you thought about cheaper alternative? I mean buying just a bunch of disks to stuff some physical machine with; would be a perfect primary repository.

Option 3 is possible, a backup copy job seems to be the best way to achieve that goal.

Thanks.

Unless the actual NAS cannot hold the desired 2 months retention because of limited disk space, so the idea to move it to the primary site and have a new and bigger one into DR makes perfect sense ;)

Thanks for your replies. We need to purchase a bigger nas anyway so move the current NAS locally and store lest amount of weeks. The disk option will be another stage later.
