Backup Copy Source
Is it possible to use a backup copy as the source of another backup copy?
My situation.
- Remote site writes a backup job to a local NAS (iOmega) and triggers a backup copy job through the WAN VPN to another NAS (Drobo) in head office.
Problem. We want to create another backup copy job from the NAS (Drobo) to an external drive bay with rotating drives (Nexstar) for our monthly backups. I tried to create secondary backup copy job with the source being the NAS (Drobo) and the target (Nexstar) but noticed that the secondary backup copy job was still looking at the backup job at the remote site NAS (iOmega).
What do we need to do to achieve this?
Thanks
Sandee

Re: Backup Copy Source
Yes, backup copy job can use backups produced by another backup copy job as a source. Have you limited the source scope of the secondary job by the particular repository used by the first job as a target?

Re: Backup Copy Source
Yes I did. But when I ran the secondary backup copy job, I noticed that it was very slow and that our VPN link was maxed as well.
Thanks

How your repositories are added into Veeam B&R console (what repository type is used)?

The iOmega NAS at the remote site is setup as a CIFS repository and the Drobo at the head office is setup as microsoft windows server.

Re: Backup Copy Source
Sorry and the nexstar target is set up as windows server. So in summary i'm trying to copy a backup copy job from a USB attached Drobo to a USB HDD Dock (Nexstar) on the same computer.
thanks

Re: Backup Copy Source
Try to add VMs from infrastructure instead of doing this via backup job (unless you've already done that).

Re: Backup Copy Source
Unfortunately, I've tried this as well with similar results.

Than I suggest to ask support to review your setup closer via webex session.
