problem with tagging on 8.0.0.2021

Post by ashleyw »

Hi,
I've just applied the patch to update our Veeam back infrastructure to 8.0.0.2021.
On of the features I wanted to use was the tagging feature.
as soon as I clock on the tag icon on a new test backup job, I get an error message saying;
QueryAllCategoryInfos failed.
Failed to initialize inventory service session
The remote server returned an error: (501) Bad Gateway.

Any ideas how to proceed before I log a call with support?

looks like the issue is the way the proxy settings are being handled by the app - I have changed the IE proxy settings to direct now temporarily and I don't see the error nay more.
I've now set the proxy back to what it should be but put in an exception for the host name of our vcentre server.

I'll carry on with my testing tomorrow.

darn proxies - they are such a waste of time in this day and age - why everyone (including ourselves just don't use routed internet connections for outbound traffic with egress filtering via something like opendns I have no idea).

:)
Modern networks should indeed be configured using proper routing and firewalling, proxies and even more NAT are evil and create a lot of problems. Thanks for the update, keep us posted on your tests.
