Incremental Backup to Tape Stalls at "Building file tree"

Post by rlparent »

Good Morning All,

I have recently upgraded to Veeam Backup & Replication v8 and I seem to be running into issues now.

I setup a job to backup files from a Virtual Machine to Tape.

The tape is recognized by Veeam and tells me how much space is left, which is everything, because there is nothing on the tape.
I have the tape in a new pool that I created.

My issue is that when the job is run it stalls at the "Building File Tree" Action.
I ran it this past weekend and it was on this action for more than 64 hours.

I can not find to much information on this, so I am asking.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Thank you.

I have now gotten past the backup stalling on the "Building File Tree" action.

Now it appears I keep getting the below error.

"5/11/2015 1:49:04 PM :: setMediaParameters error: Tape error: '87' (The parameter is incorrect.) , blockSize: 2097152"

After researching it appears it is something to do with the defult block size that gets set.
So I manually changed that in the registry and it did nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

thank you.

Has the said medium been previously written by different backup software? Do you have a library/drive utility from device manufacturer using which you can erase the tape, setting different block size?
