Multiple backup repository owned by different Veeam Servers

Post by m.novelli »

Hi guys, one tricky question: on a single Windows physical server where I have Veeam B&R installed, can I have a backup repository owned by a second Veeam Backup server?

I'm building a DR solution for a customer, and I would like to copy VBK files from a Veeam B&R server to a remote Windows Server using Backup Copy jobs. On the remote Windows Server I also would like to have a local Veeam B&R installation for quick recovery / restores

Thanks!

Cheers

Marco

Yes, you can, however be sure to keep them at the same patch level, components with different versions cannot coexist.

Also, keep the load aspect in mind - both Veeam B&R servers will assign tasks to the same server but the maximum number of concurrently running tasks/data ingestion rate will be counted within each of them independently.

Thanks, but the second server will only receive replicas of VBK files, it will not process anything

Receiving is also a repository task in terms of Veeam B&R. It still requires Veeam data mover instance to run on the server and eat bandwidth and I/O.
