guest free disk space - granularity

Post by hardbern »

hi all !

is it possible to set alarms differently for different disks on the same virtual machine ? for example: system disk c: -> alarm absolute, if disksize < 2GB, ... data-disk (different vmdk) alarm , if disksize < 5 % ? I have not found any option for doing so.

Hi Bernhard,
Unfortunately that is not reachable via GUI for now. We will think how to make it possible in future releases.
Currently, as a workaround you can generate a report with the data about guest disks.
Thanks for a feedback!

thank you for your reply - maybe it will be implemented in future releases. the reason for asking is: I receive alarms for system disks, but they have more than enough space available - with the same alarm settings, a data disk might be nearly out of space (for example quick data growth)

Thanks for the explanation, Bernhard,

It makes sense to add this kind of alarm.
As for workaround, here is an explanation how to make a report to check guest disks free space. And you can create a report-based dashboard to review the data daily.
