Too big replica files

Post by atta »

Hello,
One thing I have notice is that Veeam creating to big replica files. It is worst for Exchange and SQL where files are up to 70 GB big. We have not Antivirus scan on those servers and funny thing is that we have exactly the same setup in our second environment and everything works perfect. We was in contact with Veeam Support but nothing happent. Veeam Technician said: "Please note that this is a specific of Hyper-V environment. Snapshots always grow in size in length of time. You can reproduce long time removing without Veeam jobs e.g. if you remove the oldest checkpoint manually in Hyper-V manager for one of your replicas." This can't be the answer coz we have exactly the same setup in another environment and everything is working fine there. Same Hyper-V/Veeam version in both places. Hope that someone can help with this.

Are you positive that amount of changes occurred inside VMs is similar between those two environments? Is this amount of changes consistent between job runs? Too little information about your setup to judge on what's happening, you can review this thread for some hints on what could cause larger increments than expected.
