backup across two different VCenter server

Post by albertwt »

Hi All
Does Veeam Backup and Recovery able to backup ESXi host in two different VCenter ?
Assuming the number of CPU sockets in the Licensed Hosts still have free available.

Details:

I’ve got Veeam backup and Replication 4.1 with 6 CPU licenses

Under VCenter01 – vSphere Essentials 4 alows max. 3x ESXi hosts
ESXi01 – 2x Intel Quadcore
ESXi02 – 2x Intel Quadcore

Under VCenter02 – vSphere Essentials 4 alows max. 3x ESXi hosts
ESXi03 – 2x Intel Hexcore

Hello Albert,

Could you please clarify your question. Veeam Backup and Replication is able to backup any licensed version of the ESXi host. ESXi free are not supported.

Thank you!

Yes, you can add multiple vcenter in veeam backup, but per licence aggreement, i think veeam essential is linked with only one instance of vmware essentials. Furthermore, again per licence agreement, you can only hold one instance of vmware essentials.
So... technically it should work, but if there's a problem, both vmware or veeam won't help you, cause your configuration may not be "legal".
