Big change rate between replication jobs

Post by orenfeldman »

Hi All Veeamers out there,

I hope you can help me to spill some light on 2 questions, I couldn't find any info about it in other posts:

I'm replicating my file server every 3 hours for DR purposes. usually every replication transfers 5-10GB
1. The other day I had a replication job with 80GB transferred. probably someone loaded something big on the file server. Is there a way to see the diif / what changed in a replication job?
2. Every replication transfers about 5-10GB, it seems to be quite big, does replication job replicate the VM's RAM as well? if so, is there a way to disable it?

Thanks!

Hello Oren,

Since the replication is performed on a block level there is no way you can check the exact files caused such change rate. I’d rather investigate with native file server tools and check for file modification/creation date. In addition, check for the scheduled maintenance tasks like defrag on your file server.

What about scheduled activities performed inside VM? Say, antivirus, maintenance, de-fragmentation, deduplication operations that are running inside VM on regular basis?
