Veeam 8 Update 2

Post by jb1095 »

We are currently on Veeam 8 update 1. Will a reboot be required for the update 2 upgrade? Is there anything at all that I should be concerned about for this upgrade?

Reboot is not required. I would just recommend to wait a couple days more for the Update 2a to become GA in the next few days. Thanks!

Been hitting my head against a wall for an hour, stopping services, rebooting Veeam 8 to apply Update 2 because I keep getting "Updates cannot be installed because some processes are active".

I've rebooted the server, ensured all services are stopped, ensured all jobs are stopped and just can't get it to install.

Is Update 2a likely to resolve this?

After trying for an hour before posting (several reboots, waiting, etc) as soon as I posted on the forum for help, Update 2 installed...

@resruss

Had the same problem. Next time, use Microsoft Process Explorer and do a "Find Handle or DLL..." for the term "veeam". That should give you an idea of process is causing this issue.

Joey,
Thanks for the heads up. I’d better switch Veeam Service to manual start and reboot the machine but tastes differ :D

And small but important addition regarding reboot after updating: it may be required in case any functionality involving one of the Veeam B&R drivers was used since last server reboot (WinFLR, Instant Recovery, SureBackup DC preparation, re-IP).
