San Snahpsho tHp Storevritual - Time used

Post by frankive »

What is causing some Vms to use 10-12 minutes to create a single snapshot while other uses 60 sec. on the same SAN?
Using hardware vss provider hp leftahdn p4300.

I can see in some environemnts that domain controller perhaps takes longer.

Is there any explaination for this it would be cool to knoow :)

Do you have application-aware processing enabled? VSS may take extended time to quiesce certain applications.

Yes.
Backup jobs with application aware processing takes more time.
8 VM without app-aware processing just take 30 sec. to create snapshot.

With app-aware the different jobs (always 8 vm pr.job) may vary from 5-25 minutes to create snapshot
