Cannot restore sharepoint objects

Hello,

We had issue with sharepoint and I wanted to restore site. When I started veeam explorer for sharepoint i run into this error message: The selected Microsoft Sharpoint database version is newer than any of the supported by the specified SQL Server 2008 R2....That is strange because we are using Veeam 8 fully patched. Database should be upgraded. When I checked in remover/uninstall program sql version is 2008 and not 2012. Is there anyone who know how to fix this.

It use SQL 2012 SP1

So that is what the error message says. The staging system must run the same or a later version of Microsoft SQL Server as the server that hosts restored Microsoft SharePoint content databases.

I know that but why Veeam didn't upgrade the database when installing veeam 8 and how to upgrade this to be able to use and restore sp

Veeam B&R didn't know you would use it to restore SharePoint running on a newer SQL version. Just upgrade the SQL Server on the backup server (Veeam B&R configuration backup prior to that would not hurt).

Hi All,

I am getting this error when trying to perform a sharepoint restore on Veeam B&R server

Error: The selected MS Sharepoint Database version is newer than any of the supported by the specified MC SQL server instance.

Veeam B&R is running SQL 2012 and the Server that hosts DB for the sharepoint is running SQL 2016.

Any ideas??

Hi Mandeep,

Basically, you should upgrade SQL Server on the backup server.
Also, I'd recommend you to run Configuration backup prior to the upgrade.
