How to backup Veeam backup files into tape ?

Hi All,

I'd like to know if anyone here put the Veeam backup files into tape ?
usually I do manually initiated backup using Backup Exec to select one full backup file and then the synthetic backup files.

Hi Albert,

Before anyone has shared his "backup to tape" story, just wanted to mention that there are some common scenarios of using tapes below:

Also, as a little teaser: we are going to intoduce a "tape-friendly synthetic" backup mode to make customers who are using tapes in their environment a lot easier. This option will be a part of our next release.

No, I was referring to the traditional backup option (full + incrementals), that should help customers doing daily backups to tape. Today, they have to copy full backup file to tape every day, which is taking much time. With this new backup mode, daily backups to tape will only require copying incremental data, which is fast. You will need to copy full backup file to tape only once per week (during weekend).

I have a HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader Ultrium 1760 Tape autoloader but don't have Backup Exec Can I still backup to tape, or will I need backup exec to do this?

Windows Server 2008 R2
Veeam B & R 4.1.1

Hello Jeffret, Veeam Backup does not support backup directly to tape, so you would need some other solution which can put files on tape.
