FC Tapelibrary with virtual Veeam-Server (v8.0.0.2030)

Post by gmeurb »

Hi all,

we are planning to make Veeam Backups to Disk and to Tapes.

It is planned, that we are using a virtual Backupserver and a Windows based Stoeageserver with FC connection via FC-Switch to a FC-connected HP-MSL4048 TapeLibrary!

First of all, is this in generally possible?

Thanks in advance

Yes, i´m not pretty sure!

Under Editions Comparsion Veeam told me the following:

Back up and archive files and VM backups to standalone tapes,
tape libraries and virtual tape libraries connected to any Microsoft
Windows server in your environment.
All editions support copying Windows, Linux and VM backup files
to tape. Enterprise and Enterprise
Plus
editions add tight integration
with backup jobs and support full tracking of VMs and restore
points on tape as well as in media vaults.

Yes, there are some limitations for the basic edition of VRB. You can not create backup-to-tape jobs and vaults.
However file-to-tape job can be used to copy backup files to tapes.
What edition are you at?
Thanks!
