Backup Copy Job Schedules

Post by cffit »

Say I have backup job, Backup_Job1, that runs each day from 5PM to 8PM.
Say I have a backup copy job, Backup _Job1_BC, that has the time from 5PM to 8PM EXCLUDED from it's schedule. If that backup copy job is running and 5PM hits before it's done, does the backup copy job stop, pause or what? And if it stops or pauses, does it pick back up at 8PM? And if it does, does it now backup the new backup that just finished or does it finish backing up what it was in the process of, then catch the backup it just paused for until the next run?

Backup job has a priority over the backup copy job. So the backup copy job will be stopped and backup job will run.
Thanks!

Ok. What I'm also asking is does the backup copy job at that point fail? Or does it pause? And if it pauses, does it pick back up as soon as the schedule allows it or does it wait for the next copy period to come along?

The logic as a bit different in v7 and v8 versions. In v7 the backup copy job will be Interrupted, while it`ll be just suspended (paused) in v8.
Same for restore and full backup file transformation.
What version are you at? Thanks!
