Backing up replicated VMs to tape

Post by mccarro »

We are migrating our Vsphere infrastructure to a CoLo Datacenter 90 miles from our office.

We intend to use our office as a DR site, replicating VM's from the datacentre.
As well as replication, we have a need to backup to tape and store offsite from our datacentre.

Obviously it would make sense to backup to tape the replicated VM's at our DR site (our office).

Is this possible with VEEAM ?
Can you backup to tape replicated VM's ?

Thanks in advance

Hello Bob,
It definitely makes sense and you can do it. But note that backup-to-tape job doesn`t perform backup, but copies backup files to tape.
So you need to backup replication VMs before.

Another option is to use backup files as a source of replication job. Means, you can backup the VMs on the production site, copy them to the production site using backup copy jobs and use the copied backup files as source for replica and to-tape job. Thanks!
