Backup on hidden volume

Post by Ramis »

It would be great feature to backup on hidden volume like in Windows 7 backup utility. Because for now most vulnerable for troyan coders are account managers PCs. And last ones coding all type of files, even account databases. In Win8 backup feature is gone. Very sad. So please include this feature in new relesaes of Endpoint Backup

+1 for this. I'd like to keep the drive unmounted just to keep it from cluttering My Computer and the Save/Open dialogs.

In my case, I like to build systems with extra internal disks dedicated to backup. It's an inexpensive way to cover 99% of the system's backup needs.

For friends and family, I tried the USB route, and they ended up never plugging it in. Being able to back up to a volume lacking a drive letter would be especially helpful here. I don't need them browsing into the backup files out of curiosity...or asking "what's this extra drive for again?"

You could mount it as a folder somewhere in the hidden location

That's not a bad solution. Though, I would prefer support in VEB for unmounted volumes, as that would be cleaner and easier.

On the server side (where Windows Backup still exists), the setup wizard actually guides the user toward using an unmounted volume to discourage users from putting data on the backup drive or directing backups to a data drive.

Counted as additional vote for a backup to unmounted volumes. Cheers!
