iSCSI Config for P4500G2

Post by Khue »

I always get a little nervous giving my Windows2k8+ servers read/write access to volumes from my P4500s. I have this paranoia that one of the other admins around here will see the volumes attached to the Windows server and attempt to format the drives. Is there any reason that the Veeam proxy server would need both read and write access to the volumes from the P4500 if I am doing storage aware based backups? Can I get away with just granting the Veeam proxy read-only?

Hi,

Backup proxy does not require write access. Storage LUNs are accessible on the proxy side only during storage-aware backup operations. However, backup server needs special permissions - that's why you have to set up credentials when you add a new storage in "Storage Infrastructure" tab. Please refer to this article.

Thank you.

I setup the volumes in read only mode and everything worked out well. Thanks for your help.
