Moving Veeam B&R to new server, question about files
Hi all,
I've got 2 servers named as below:
Hyper-V (original veeam backup server)
Sprite-Backup (new veeam backup server)
Both have the same drive maps
Hyper-V runs a daily incremental backup and then a weekly incremental backup, to a Local attached drive.
I've copied the database and restored it from Hyper-V to Sprite-Backup.
Sprite-Backup see's all the jobs, history, credentials etc. However my main concern before running the backup jobs on the new one is how much of the previous job files do i need to copy?
Just the main Full backup & Chain?
All files (Incremental's, full and chain)
Please could you let me know as the KB i followed doesn't describe in detail what files need to be moved. And I assume that it will need at least the incremental and chain.

Re: Moving Veeam B&R to new server, question about files
Please note that the name of the server is hyper-v as it was going to be used for that role, however it is not. It's just a physical windows machine running veeam only. It just never got re-named.
Sprite-Backup is also a physical server.

If you want to have exact copies of previously existed chains, then, you need to copy all backup files, including fulls, dependent increments and metadata file (.vbm). Thanks.

After you move these files, rescan your backup repository to detect all backup chains in the new default backup repository.
