Backup Copy Job - Removing Archival Restore Points

Post by kslaught21 »

We have a client who initially wanted to do weekly full backups for archival purposes as part of their backup copy job. They decided they no longer require this and unchecked this option in the backup copy job settings. When will the archive full backup file(s) get removed from the repository - on the next backup copy job run? We also see a massive <jobname+date>.temp file in our repository. Is this part of the archive chain and will that be removed at the next job run?

Kyle, you should delete the unneeded restore points manually, as far as I remember, they will not be removed automatically during the next job run after disabling GFS. As for the .temp files, they are used in GFS retention process, however should be deleted during the next job cycle, so if you feel that is not the case, you'd better ask support to take a look at what happens there. Thanks.
