Clarification on ESXi Free

Hi,

We have several deployments of VMWare Essential with about three vCenter installations monitored with Veeam Monitor. I'm looking to deploy a single ESXi 4 machine and trying to determine if I need vCenter for that server.

On the blog (http://veeammeup.com/2009/12/esxi-anyone.html) it says that Veeam Monitor supports ESXi free but "Support for read operations only". Can someone clarify what exactly this means? What part of Veeam monitoring isn't supported?
