NUmber of Disks Hot-added to proxy exceeds set task limit
Hiya,
We have scheduled a job of about one hundred VMs and using 3 proxies.
We have set the task limit on the proxies to 6, so we would expect to see no more than 6 disks hot-added on each proxy.
The jobs are running really slow and we have had to stop the backup a couple of times.
on both occasions either one or all of the proxies added to many disks
what might cause this, as this might be the error?
cheers Mike

Did you by any chance already had contact with support (please provide the support id then)?
How many disks did each proxy add?

Re: NUmber of Disks Hot-added to proxy exceeds set task limi
Hiya
After looking at the job report we could see which VMs were using which proxy and manage to find that the extra disk correpoded to the OS disk on the Proxy itself. The proxy was not selected for backup as it was not listed in that particular APP pool on the ESXI.
So why is it trying to backup one of its own disk? Even though it wasn't listed in the backup job we have set an exclusion now for that proxy as bit of overkill.
does anyone have any ideas?
cheers Mike

Mike, could you please clarify that, since proxy cannot hotadd it's own disks?michaelwright197108 wrote:After looking at the job report we could see which VMs were using which proxy and manage to find that the extra disk correpoded to the OS disk on the Proxy itself.
Note, that you can use Veeam ONE to monitor the current number of tasks assigned to each proxy server as a troubleshooting step.

Hiya Foggy,
Yes I can confirm the path of the vmdk did confirm is was one of its own disks(the name of the proxy server was in the name).
We are not yet using Veeam ONE.

It would probably be best if you demonstrated this directly to a support engineer, as I can't quite make sense of what you're describing.
What version of ESXi are you using? If I recall correctly, prior to 5.5 hotadd would mount all of a VM's disks to a proxy, not just the disk being backed up.
