Hi
I'm sure this must be possible, but I can't get it right.
We send all our SNMP traps (Backup Exec, Rsync, etc) to a database, and have a script which searches for certain terms and raises a helpdesk item based on the trap.
With Backup and Replication, I can't seem to get much useful info from the SNMP traps.
This is what we are getting
18:20:22 06/08/10 64074681 String DBN 2 Estcourt (Windows) String dbncs01 String control String InProgress String
18:50:36 06/08/10 64256068 String DBN 2 Estcourt (Windows) String dbndc01 String control String InProgress String
19:19:49 06/08/10 64431379 String DBN 2 Estcourt (Windows) String MobiusApps1 String control String InProgress String
20:16:39 06/08/10 64772381 String cecc5485-f9bb-4d71-9024-8924afe78a24 String DBN 2 Estcourt (Windows) String Success String
As you can see, there are no starting points, only "InProgress" and also no completion points for each machine, only for the whole job.
Is there a way to get more descriptive SNMP traps?
Thanks
Steve

Re: Useful SNMP traps
Hello Steve,
This is a known issue with a wrong "InProgress" status for the SNMP trap, you should apply the latest hotfix which is available through our support team. After applying the fix you will be recieving the proper status (Successfull or Failed) for VMs. Also you may track completion time points when you recieve the trap with proper status. But could you tell us if there any additional info you would like to see in the trap, except for the already mentioned above?
Here is the description of the fix to apply:

Re: Useful SNMP traps
Yes, basically this is the same issue that brakes those vCenter events mentioned in the fix.

Re: Useful SNMP traps
Great, I've sent a request to tech support.
Basically, as long as the SNMP trap can say something like this, I'm happy
Job "Replicate servers" Started
Server 1 Started
Server 1 Completed Successfully
Server 2 Started
Server 2 Completed Successfully
Server 3 Started
Server 3 Completed Successfully
Job "Replicate servers" Completed successfully
Thanks
