Veeam Replication for Hyper-V Windows 2008 requirements

Post by karlochacon »

hi guys

Does someone know the requirements to replicate VMs in Hyper-V 2008
We have Site A windows 2008 Hyper-V and Site B Windows 2012 Hyper-V

Do I require Virtual Machine Manager in both Sites or with the hyper-V nodes is enough? I am not sure about that simple requirement

also what happens in a failover I migrate my VMs to Windows 2012 and when everything is OK in Site A I just replicate back? I mean Windows 2012 can replicate to Windows 2008? or for that case I need Windows 2008 Hyper-V in both sites?

last question maybe does Veeam supports replicate to Vmware?

thanks a lot

Carlos, actually Hyper-V 2008 is not supported, you need at least 2008 R2 SP1. VMM is not required, standalone hosts are ok. Replication to a higher version is supported (including failback to a lower one). Replication between Hyper-V and VMware is not supported.

Probably there was some sort of confusion, since we always stated the same thing.
