Hi
We are using the backup copy feature to copy our nightly backups to another location (we are using a high speed 250mbps PTP wireless link for this) to a QNAP NAS drive
This works really well and to date we have not had any issues
Our monitoring systems however show that in the last month, over that link we have sent approximately 448gb to the NAS, but received over 800gb back from it!!
We have not performed any restores, or pulled any data back for any reason, I can only assume its Veeam doing something with its consolidation maybe?
We don't run a proxy at the site as the link is of a good speed with 0 - 1ms latency.
If it is normal behavior, then we are happy, but if not we may log a support call, just wanted to confirm others experiences
Hoping someone may be able to shine some light on this sitaion

Re: Backup Copy receiving more data than its sending
I think we just worked it out, we had the "health check" enabled. which had been running for 55 hours so far!
We have now turned this off

Michael, introducing gateway server for the QNAP repository residing in the target site would ensure the traffic to stay local instead of going back and forth during synthetic activity.
