Virtual appliance mode

I am running Veeam on a VM (Server 2008/2 vCPUs/4GB RAM) using Virtual appliance mode. I have notice that a Veeam backup has a high CPU utilization rate. My question is, is it possible to run concurrent Veeam backup jobs on a VM using Virtual Appliance mode without bringing the VM to its knees?

Hello Dave, my usual recommendation is to give Veeam Backup VM 4 vCPU whenever possible. This would allow you to run concurrent jobs too, if needed. Alternatively, if you are concerned about CPU usage, you can reduce the compression level to low in the job settings. But, since typically there are always plenty of unused CPU resources and always not enough storage, I recommend staying with default (Optimal) compression for smallest backup files.
