Veeam v8 support for WhiteWater/Steelstore

Post by Andrew.L »

Hi, I've done a search and can't find anything conclusive, so am keen to get some guru feedback.

My current client is running the following as their repo's within their Veeam v7 environment:
* NetApp Steelstore - Model 3030 / v3.2.1 (#211)
* Riverbed Whitewater - Model 3030 / v3.1.2e (#170)

Does anyone have confirmation that upgrading to Veeam v8 (U3) will be good/bad/ugly when using these appliances as repos?
Many thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly, updating from v7 to v8 GA required a firmware update on a Whitewater about a year ago, but I can't find my notes on the topic.

Thanks Alan, yes this is precisely the concern that I have, as this exact thing was mentioned around my client's office informally also, so I'm keen to confirm exactly what I need to do.

Well, I'm confident they won't run into that particular issue (errors involving vbm_temp files) if their firmware is less than a year old, other than that I think you'll have to wait and see if another Whitewater owner has any comments.
