Configure backup to tape with incremental forever

Hi,
I have one job which backups around 5TB, it's configured as reverse incremental with retention policy of 16 points.

I want to set up a backup to tape job.
Do I need to backup all the files ? the full ? or just the ones that are going to be deleted ? (on day 16 it replaces the first/oldest incremental file)
How do I configure the backup to tapes ? do I backup the job or the repository ?

My goal is to have an option to restore from tape from any date.

I'll appreciate any help.

You can set the full and incremental schedule in the properties of the tape job. Even if your normal backup isn't a full, the tape job will create a synthetic full on the day it is scheduled to run a full backup to tape job. If everything you are writing to tape is already a backup job, I would do backup to tape and select the jobs you want.

Create a backup to tape job and set daily schedule for it. This way, each day a .vbk file will be copied to tape mediums, giving you exactly what you're after.

.vrb files (reversed increments) are automatically skipped from processing.

I've created a new tape job which appears as a second target on the main backup job.
The main job runs daily.
Does this mean that as long as I have the backups on tapes I'll be able to restore from endless earlier dates, right ?
