instant VM recovery with Netapp snapshots works great.
however, sometimes I'd like to restore just a VMDK or even a single VMX file, which is currently not possible with B&R when snapshots are used.
but Netapp has a file clone feature to restore single files from a snapshot.
so it would be great if Veeam B&R could use this Netapp feature for VMDK and VMX file restores.

As a workaround, you can still use Instant Recovery , avoid to power on the virtual machine, and restore the needed files.
While a vmx file doesn't require any special operation, you need to "trick" a bit the vmdk file to change its uuid to not conflict with the original one, I wrote how to do this in a blog post a year ago:
