Hi Frank,

As far as I remember it is a good tool, but if you want to compare these two products you need to define the scenarios/use cases that are most important in your case. For example, Veeam Backup & Replication monitoring and advanced reporting capabilities as well as infrastructure assessment reports for Hyper-V, VMware are among top key features for Veeam ONE and should be pretty unique on the market.

If you want to have a bit more info on the comparison, then our system engineer will be happy to help over the email or a WebEx call.

Thanks!

I really like both of the products and I actually think we can use both in our environment with Veeam One focusing on the hyper-v environment and prtg on the more physical aspects of firewalls, switches with ping on 1 sec etc.
Or is Veeam One capable to deliver good diagnostic thourh wmi and snmp from other network devices as well?
Is there perhaps a good blogpost which could cover a basic infrastrucre suveillance for small customer?

We have both running in our VMware environment. We have been a PRTG customer for many years now and just started using Veeam One this year.
PRTG is excellent and does some things that Veeam One currently does not:
- Monitor Windows Services status
- Monitor Windows Events and Program specific items (Exchange queues, SharePoint, SQL statistics, etc.)
- Physical Switch monitoring
- Physical Router monitoring
- Custom sensors to monitor output from Linux SSH scripts
- Working on potential monitoring items via JavaScript
- Very easy to build Dashboards that anyone can view without a login (great for NOC or Kiosk displays)

Veeam One is equally great at the virtual stuff. We are starting to get into the detailed monitoring on our virtual environment as well as great reporting on Veeam B&R.
We are looking at both the auto-reports as well as publishing widgets to our SharePoint farm.

The goal is to eventually merge the two systems into a NOC display that rotates thru live HTML pages to show us real-time information about our entire IT infrastructure.

Veeam ONE is gathering information from virtual and backup infrastructures. If you want to monitor other devices, then 3rd party tools should be used that are specifically build for network switches monitoring etc.

There are some good posts and whitepapers about Veeam ONE capabilities or you're referring to something else?

Thanks for sharing your feedback on Veeam ONE usage!
