Using DDBoost Repository

Post by chris.childerhose »

Is it possible to use a DDBoost repository on the Veeam Server with Endpoint backup? I have tried several times with errors and when switching back to a CIFS share it works.

Hi,

I do remember we tested it, so it should be possible. Make sure that decompress backup data blocks before storing repository option is enabled in the VBR repository properties. What errors you got?

I'm using VEB (1.5) to backup Veem 9 server on DDboost repo.
I just wonder how to do a bare metal restore in case of server failure. In fact if I boot with VEB usb media I cannot directly connect the DDboost repo but I should provide the IP of the Veeam server itsefl (that is the server that I'm trying to restore at in that moment).

So I assume I should:
1. Reinstall Windows 2012 OS
2. Reinstall Veeam B&R
3. Restore Veeam B&R database (it's saved daily on Data Domain). This should restore also the DDboost repo.
4. Recover the files or Veeam One database from VEB backup stored on DDboost repo.

I'm wrong? there is a simple solution?

Can you access this repository via shared folder destination option? Thanks.

Nope,

unfortunally ddboost repo:

ddboost://dd01:BackupVeeamVcenter@/

cannot be accessed using shared folder. Any Idea? shall U use as backup repository the standard cifs/SMB instead of DDboost?

Thanks. It looks like it case of a total disaster you need to set up a new VBR server, create a new DD boots repository and the import the excising backups to the said repository. Once done, start VEB’s Bare Metal Restore and connect to the newly created VBR repo. Backup files should be visible.
