Veeam EM and BR in different forests with no trust

Post by kosov.janko »

Hi all,

I have an architecture question. Is it possible to deploy EM server in AD forest and domain em.local and VBR in AD forest and domain vbr.local. There is no trust between the two forests & domains.

Can I assign permissions on EM in forest/domain em.local to user@em.local to restore VMs on VBR which is in vbr.local forest/domain? Will that work? For example I want to assign user@em.local Restore Operator role on a VM that is backed up by VBR server in vbr.local forest/domain.

Is it clear what I want? Is this possible and will it work?

Should work, domain membership of EM/backup server does not play any role. The only restriction here is that Exchange items restore from EM is only available for mailboxes that belong to users from the same forest.

Hi foggy!

Thanks for the reply. I've tested this myself and for the full VM restore there were no issues.

Thanks for your input on this!
