Veeam "hidden features" list?

Post by Philip.N »

Hi,

I'm curious - Is there a list of all the hidden features - i.e. in regedit - that are not controlled from inside Veeam B&R? I've recently experienced that some controls that have to do with how the proxies behave can be controlled by changing a value in the Windows registry. That made me think that perhaps there are more hidden features here and that perhaps there is a list? Have any of you come across something like this?

There is no such a list due to the fact that those keys are applicable to the specific cases only. Being implemented wrongly, they might lead to undesired consequences. Thus, they are typically mentioned either in topic or KB article discussing particular issue.

Quick search for key word "regkey" might help to find out the most frequently used ones.

Thanks.

[MERGED] : List of "hidden" registry keys

Post by mma »

Hello all

Veeam has some "hidden" features, most of them are described in release notes or KB entries.
Is there a list with all knows keys?

For Example:
EnableDBExclusions (http://www.veeam.com/kb1051)
InverseVssProtocolOrder (http://www.veeam.com/kb1671)
MaxSnapshotsPerDatastore (http://www.veeam.com/kb1831)

Regards

If there's something specific you'll looking to do (enable/disable some feature, change the order of something, increase/decrease a limit), you can create a support case at severity 4 and ask if it can be done, whether through the UI, registry setting, config file, or some other method.

There is a list since late 2016 :D :D :D

https://www.veeam.com/kb2182

@Veeam:
Is this list complete?
I'm missing "DisableVMwareToolsNotFoundWarning" from https://www.veeam.com/kb2068.
Does this one still work in 9.5 U2?

This is definitely not a complete list of registry values, we have never created a public one as it would require huge effort to maintain it and not much sense in it anyway, since most of the values require support supervision to verify applicability and properly deploy.

As for the DisableVMwareToolsNotFoundWarning value, it should work fine with v9.5.

Hi foggy

Thanks for the response.

I still don't like the fact that there is no list with all reg keys noted in various release notes.
My two cents - extend the GUI (Yes, I know you guys like to keep it simple an clean) for advanced features or create an complete, official list with "save to use" reg keys.
Digging in release notes is some kind of 2000s

Regards
Marcel
