Job timeout

Post by davide.depaoli »

Hello,
this is the picture:
customer with 4 worldwide sites (Italy, France and USA) and one Service provider in Germany managing all VMware, Active Directories and other customer applications/services.
vSphere cluster locally running on every site.
Veeam B&R server and repository locally on every site.
One vCenter server centralized in Germany, managing all sites. The vCenter is managed by the provider and not by my customer.
All Veeam servers points to the vCenter to manage own ESXi cluster.

In the first site started up (Italy), Veeam backup jobs often fails going in timeout during the vCenter connection to make a vm list and take snapshot.
The WAN bandwidth is 10Mbps with Riverbed appliance on both sides.

Is there any tuning to make on Veeam or vCenter server to solve this problem ?
thanks in advance
Regards,
Davide

I'd try a single Veeam B&R managing all the sites (and located at the site where vCenter Server resides) and proxies deployed in every location.

Hi foggy,
this option was proposed, but discarded by customer because his provider hasn't Veeam skilled guys, and my customer prefers to have direct control (or by us) to Veeam servers. If there isn't another solution, we present again the original (and yours) option.

Probably Veeam B&R standalone console coming in v9 will be an argument towards this approach.
