MSSQL Simple Mode Settings

Post by mcsmithSOP »

What are the correct settings when the MSSQL database is set to Simple Mode recovery?

I've read this: http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/v ... 2Brecovery but what's throwing me off is:
So, with this option selected, your database administrator will have to take care of database logs
The Microsoft documentation for SQL Recovery Models states that "Automatically reclaims log space to keep space requirements small, essentially eliminating the need to manage the transaction log space."

So which is it?

I have a particular backup job that has a mix of non-SQL and SQL servers. My settings under Advanced Settings > vSphere are "Enable VMware Tools quiescence" for the non-application aware VM, and under Guest Processing "Enable application-aware processing" is selected, General Tab > "Process transaction logs with this job" is selected and SQL Tab > "Do not truncate logs" is selected
