I have configured my backup job incrementally daily (recommended) CREATE ON SATURDAY ---- SYNTHETIC FULL BACKUPS

But I wonder what function the previous backup Transform chains ....

This operation transforms the entire previous chain of increments (up to the previous full) into rollback files, effectively making the reverse incremental chain out of it.

From what I 've read by KN ... If asset that box, I will transform all copies FULL INCREMENTAL , leaving just 1 FULL .

Only the most recent full backup plus increments that follow it are transformed. All backups that precede that full backup stay intact.

Yes, you have VRB files as a result, however it is not a simple file renaming, it is a synthetic activity that reads blocks from VIB files, writes them to VBK, reads old blocks from there and writes them to VRB.

If you want to preserve everything as is (.vbk+.vib's) and don't want to have previous points converted to .vrb, then, indeed do not activate this option. Thanks.
