Hi, I suggest you to double-check loader drivers on the host that holds the role of a tape server since in most cases problems with tape drives/loaders being not visible are driver related.
It looks like a default MS driver called Unknown Medium Changer. You need the original vendor’s driver for media changer to get this working. This looks like the one you need. Use nonexclusive version (install_nonexclusive.exe)
Nice, it worked with this non exclusive driver.
Loader is now available.
Now I can try to backup.
Other question:
I backup to disk every day incremental.
On one day in the month I want to backup a full backup to tape (Monthly backup).
Is it neccessary only for this one backup to tape to create a full backup to disk?
Because as far as I understand you can not backup directly to tape. You can only create a copy job?
Or is Veeam so intelligent that it will "export" or "build" a full backup from my incremental B2D Repository?
Please do not link the documentary. I know that it exists.
It depends on the backup mode you are using for your disk job. Forward incremental disk job will be placed on tape ‘as it is’ since it’s up to you when to create a full backup on disk (you can enable incrementals to tape inside the tape job settings or leave it full only).
With forever incremental disk job you can set the virtual full backup on tape to be created on the specific day from the incremental on disk - check this article for more details.
The Virtual Full Backup sounds great, but I do not understand how I should configure it.
Do I have to "configure secondary destination for this job" or change the advanced settings of the Job itself?
And where do I configure when a Virtual Full Backup will be created and stored on Tape.
I want to have a full backup on Tape on every last Friday of the month.
As I am confused I mailed support and I hope they will help me via a webex or Teamviewer.
