Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
Hi guys, today for the first time I've seen the warning "Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)" on the Veeam B&R email report
This customer is running Veeam v8 with Update 2b running on Windows 2008 R2, the host is vSphere 5.5 U2
The warning seems self-explaining, but i couldn't find more info about this warning on Veeam forum or documentation
Cheers
Marco

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
This is related to the Backup I/O Control setting being enabled. If this happens more often on a specific datastore you might want to change the values for this specific datastore (http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/h ... ssing.html).

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
Is the default latency ok for you, or it should be changed? Based on this design choice the warning can also be ignored as BIOC is "simply" guaranteing you that desired latency is never violated.
If instead this is not the required performances, look at overall performances of that storage or the load created by Veeam, and fix those problems. Simply changing warning thresholds just to hide warnings is like swiping dust under the carpet to be honest...

I would also recommend to install Veeam ONE to assess performance of that given datastore and based on the results either adjust the thresholds or lower the load on the datastore.

[MERGED] : Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable late
I've been receiving the warning below when removing snapshots from VMWare.
Any idea why is this occurring and how can I resolve it?

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
Take a look at storage latency control setting that can be found: Menu -> Options -> Enable storage latency control. Thanks.

I don't have BIOC enabled. Still get the message. Is there a kind of default value that generates this warning anyway?

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
If storage latency control is not enabled, you should not get any message regarding backup server waiting for acceptable latency to delete VM snapshot. Have you already opened a support ticket?

no, not yet opened a support ticket. I will do that. I just saw the message while testing a backup. I definitely do not have BIOC enabled, checked and double checked.

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
I have this same issue: ESX 5.1, Veeam 8, Backups are processed quickly but stay at 99% - 'waiting for acceptable latency'.
Storage latency control is NOT enabled in the I/O Control Options.
Was there a resolution to this - or should I submit another support ticket?

Yes, please. And sharing the case ID here would be much appreciated.

OK - I'll gather some information from the backup tonight, and open a ticket tomorrow.

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
As far as I remember, there is a hard limit of concurrent VM snapshot removals per datastore (configurable through the registry key), and you may be hitting one.

Re: Removing VM snapshot (waiting for acceptable latency)
Actually there are two limits, 2 snapshot removal per host and 4 for the entire cluster. But in that case the message should be more "waiting for available resources", isn't it?

Who knows what devs used anyway, debug log review should help here.
