Veeam transport service

Post by SpiderPig »

We have run a demo version of Veeam and will now roll out a licensed version.
Do I need to remove Veeam transport service from the target host that the demo version installed?

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Target hosts have not to be licensed, so you don`t need to remove them. Here is the licensing FAQ by the way.

Hi, and thank you Shestakov. Sorry for bad wording. I'll create a new server to Veeam, dump the demo. Then I wonder if it is necessary to remove the transport service on the host or will the new installation of Veeam use these without any problems?

I see. You need to add the hosts and repositories to the new VBR server. When you do, the server will check the needed components on the targets and install them. You don`t need to worry about that. Just make sure that the new VBR`s version is not lower than the previous one`s.

Also, if you want to preserve the current configuration, you can perform the in-place upgrade (it might not be even an upgrade, but rather a license file replacement) and keep using already configured jobs, components, etc. Thanks.

And to fill up the topic.
We recommend to set configuration backup for migration between VBR servers without loosing any configuration data.
Thanks!
