Some Resource Pools Excluded from Monitoring

Post by jgreenback »

Hi,
I just noticed that a few of our resource pools are excluded from monitoring and, for the life of me, can't figure out how to include them back into monitoring.
All hosts and datastores are being monitored which are the only items you can exclude from monitoring. Am i missing something? Help!

thanks,

Hi Jason,
Could you specify the problem a bit? Do you use Hyper-V or vSphere? Can you see those resource pools in "Infrastructure View" of Veeam ONE Monitor at all?
Are you sure all hosts are being monitored and the license limit is not exceeded?
Thanks!

We are monitoring vSphere/vCloud servers only. In Infrastructure view I can see all resource pools but a few are grayed out and indicate that they are excluded from monitoring in Summary. I check the corresponding vCloud Infrastructure Organization and cannot see data.
I check all hosts and can see metrics which tells me that they are being monitored, same with datastores. I also checked Server Settings and verified all hosts and datastores are checked.
I'm stumped.

What is the status of these vApps in vCloud Director? Do they have an expired status by any chance?

Definitely aren't expired. Source of the issue is that the resource pool itself is marked as "excluded from monitoring" somehow. That resource pool directly translates to the vCloud Org vDC which results in the Org vDC not being monitored thus not perf metrics.

Hmm.. can you please open a support case with our technical team and let me your case ID? I will share it with the devs.

Problem resolved. Veeam Support had us run a query against the VeeamOne db that cleared the excluded resource pools (which translate 1 to 1 to a vCloud Director Org vDC). All fixed, thanks Veeam Support! :)

Query fro those interested:

Code: Select all

update monitor.VwResourcePool
set exclude_state = 0
where exclude_state = 1

Perfect! I will follow up with your support engineer on the initial reason for this behavior.
