Mac OS X support

Post by Libertas »

[split]

Hi Gostev,
I was wondering whether or not Veeam's current testing for this hotfix release also included the ability to backup Apple Mac OS X Lion servers as well (as apart of the virtual environment)?
We have a requirement to deploy OS X within a virtual environment (and I understand Apple require the VM to reside on Apple hardware), so I just wanted to understand if/when this would be on the Veeam's roadmap?
Many thanks for the update.

Hi Farhad, we support any OS supported by VMware. Because we backup on image level, we really don't care what OS is there in the image. If vSphere 5 support Mac OS X, that means this OS "automatically" becomes supported by Veeam Backup & Replication (because no special testing needs to be done on our side whatsoever). We have this stated in our System Requirements. Thanks.

You can certainly do file level recoveries if your file systems are HFS, HFS+, though indexing is not supported. Thanks!
