Understanding GFS in Veeam

Post by ame »

HI guys,

I have a general problem understanding the GFS solution of veeam comparing it to regular backup software.
If I want to use GFS, do I have to:

- generate different jobs for daily, weekly and monthly jobs?
- use the option "create active full backups each..." or to use the schedules "daily at this time" and "monthly at this time"?

I already read the admin pdf many times but the generation of the backup job using the GFS feature has not been explained clearly....

Thanks and regards
Alex

Hi Alex and welcome to the community,

The first question to start with are you referring to tape GFS or backup copy GFS logic? Thanks

Hello Alexander,

Sorry for the delay. Starting from v9 verion GFS is supported as a tape media pool, so can be configured within one media pool and one tape job. Backup copy remains the same – one job with 4 archival intervals. I suggest you checking the following help center articles: Backup Copy Job and Backup to Tape - GFS Media Pool
