Hello,
since we upddated to Veeam v9 we always get a warning when our Oracle VM is going to be backed up:
Code: Select all
19.01.2016 23:06:24 :: Failed to retrieve Oracle database (SID: XXXXX) settings required to perform archived logs backup. Oracle error has occurred. ORA-12560: TNS: Fehler bei Protokolladapter
--tr:OracleSession: failed to init server.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session holder. SID: MEDISTAR.
Because we dont want to use this feature, is there a way to disable the Warning, or the complete oracle integration?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Could you tell what AAIP settings are specified for the VM in question (Backup Job -> Guest Processing -> Applications -> VM -> Edit -> Oracle)? Thanks.

Exact same problem here (after v9), with some currently disabled oracle-services on our oracle-hosts.
We have nothing selected in Oracle application processing (default "Do not truncate archived logs").
How to remove/suppress these warnings?

The issue is currently under investigation. We'll update the topic, once we have more information. So, stay tuned. Thanks.

Currently there's no logic for excluding Oracle databases from backup and warning is logged for any database that is not available (e.g. service is disabled). We are going to address such situations in a more friendly manner in future versions.

As mentioned above, the issue has been confirmed to be a known one and more sophisticated logic to address that will be implemented in the future. Thanks.

Hi all,
OK for a backup Job, but I have the same warning with a Replication Job.
Or in a Replication Job we can't set credentials for Oracle...(Specify Oracle account with SYSDBA privileges)

Open Oracle Universal Installer
Go to Installed Products, click tab Environment.
Mark your oracle Home and click Apply.
This worked for me. Backups are now created successfull.

Are there any news on this topic?
I am just experiencing the same issue with a customer:
Code: Select all
19.05.2016 09:51:30 :: Unable to perform application-aware processing of Oracle database (SID: PCSA) : Oracle error has occurred. ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
--tr:Failed to create oracle session.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session holder. SID: PCSA.
When will there be an option to disable oracle-aware processing?

I tried to add the Registry Key on the Oracle machine as suggested in KB2114, but i still got the warning in the daily summary:
Unable to perform application-aware processing of Oracle database (SID: XXX) : Oracle error has occurred. ORA-12560: TNS: Fehler bei Protokolladapter --tr:OracleSession: failed to init server. --tr:Failed to create oracle session. --tr:Failed to create oracle session holder. SID: XXX.
Do i have to set the DWORD-Value to 0 or to 1 for enabling it, or is there any other hint getting this to work?
THX

Hi Peter, you should set the DisableOracleProcessing value to 1 to disable Oracle processing. If this doesn't work, please contact technical support for verification.

Ok. But how to write the VeeamOracleAgent.xml file to not to backup a particulat oracle db? Usually i have 1 db instance active and sometimes there is an oracle db in shutdown state. The veeam backup create a warning because it try to backup both databases.

We have similar requests and using Veem 9. Anyone knows if we can disable a specified DB through VeeamOracleAgent.xml? What the config is?

As far as I'm concerned, in version 9 you can only disable oracle processing altogether, while Oracle selected db exlcussion is not possible. Is there any particular reason preventing you from updating to 9.5 Update 1? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry from my ignorance, yes, we are using 9.5.
May I know if we can add parameters to file VeeamOracleAgent.xml to only ignore one instance?

Kindly, reach our support team, they should be aware of regkey (existing in 9.5) using which you can exclude particular databases. Thanks.

We DBAs have no support account to Veeam. Would very appreciate your help, if you can let us know the parameter. Otherwise, I will ask our system team reaching the support team.

It is also a problem in v9.5
Unable to perform application-aware processing of Oracle database (SID: HRF) : Oracle error has occurred. ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
--tr:Failed to create oracle session.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session holder. SID: HRF.
I choose the general options
"Try application processing, but ignore failures"
and
Perform coy only (lets another application use logs)

Hi Norbert, the specified number refers to a pretty old support case that is not related to Oracle. Could you please check and provide the correct one?
