Best Practices: Veeam Backup & Replication 8.0 for VMware

Post by btmaus »

In the latest community mailer from Gostev, he mentions that to become and expert in Veeam, you should read this book:

Best Practices: Veeam Backup & Replication 8.0 for VMware

I want to know whether there are plans to update it for v9?

Sure.

However, obviously it will take our solution architects a few months of collecting those real-world best practices in the field, before they are able to put the new version together. Thing is, Scale-out Backup Repository and per-VM backup chains are game changing and will have huge impact on scalability, so some portions of this document will have to be expanded to account for these new deployment options.

Thanks, I'll look out for it. This v8 document is great, easier to read than the online Help documentation.

I absolutely agree, this is because it is actually written as a book. Online Help contains, quite literally, help pages that you are taken to when clicking F1 in some dialog of the user interface, so they are meant to be somewhat isolated from one another ;)

I was sent a copy of the book, but don't know how to order the printed copy. How can this be ordered?

I'm not sure whether we distribute the said book in the forms other than .pdf. Thanks.

Right, as far as I know, printed copies are distributed at events only.

OK, I must have been on someone's Christmas "Nice" list, as they sent me a copy! Terrific book and I look forward to the Version 9 book! Terrific work and one of the many reasons that Veeam is my number one choice as a consulting architect.

Any plans to release a best practices guide for version 9 now that it's been out a while?

Yes, however it will take our architects some time to actually gather said best practices first before they can be published, of course.

I can just confirm that the new guide is in the works, no estimated time line however.
