Slow transfer with replication

Post by DaveN »

Hi,

I just setup our replicaion jobs but noticed that we are only getting around 70 mb/s with fiber channel.
I did some Googleing and saw it could be a proxy that may be cousing it.. but we don't have a proxy. and the vm's we are replicating are within the same building, all connected with fiber channel.

do i need a proxy when replicating within a local network?

Thanks in advance

Dave, what are the bottleneck stats for replication jobs?

Then pay attention at how data is being retrieved from the source storage. What transport mode is utilized by the source proxy (Veeam B&R server, by default)?

hi, something has changed over night, now the target is the bottleneck: 2/3/2016 1:15:35 AM :: Busy: Source 4% > Proxy 6% > Network 9% > Target 99%
and looking at the details of the job i can see that the source is useing SAN and the target is using NBD..

2/3/2016 12:17:03 AM :: Using source proxy VMware Backup Proxy for disk Hard disk 3 [san]
2/3/2016 12:17:03 AM :: Using target proxy VMware Backup Proxy for disk Hard disk 3 [nbd]

how can i change this :)?

Check the transport mode used for the initial run, it could be also [san], which is available for the full job run only, while cannot be used for subsequent increments. Consider placing proxy VM on the target host to be able to utilize virtual appliance (hotadd) mode for writing data.

Hi,

we made a new windows server on the target and used it as a proxy, then within veeam we made this proxy to use hotadd.

this option worked for us and more than dubbled our speeds!

thanks.
