DR configuration

Post by Ratcha »

I will have a SAN in the prod site along with 3 ESX4i servers, 1 VSphere server, and a backup server running Veeam Backup & Restore. I plan to have a single server at the DR site running ESX4i and utilizing local storage - IF the replication can be automated with these differences between prod & DR.

As I'll be using Veeam to replicate to the DR server, will I need to do anything within Veeam Backup & Replication for the VM's to startup from local storage instead of a SAN?

I still have to read the replication part manual, but figured I ask here first as I'm still in the design stage for DR.

Hello, there is no difference in running VMs on a local or on a shared storage regarding to destination target for your replication jobs. Your scenario is one of the most commonly used scenarios among our customers. You may also search the forums for real life examples of DR strategies.
