Feature Request: Bootable drive with cold backup feature

Post by vnavna »

Most all imaging software out there have the ability to backup or restore from the created recovery media. It would be nice to have for those PCs that are new that could be backed up initially prior to the first boot process.

Thank you

Thanks – good request. As for recovery – you would like to have the ability to run file level recovery while booted into Recovery Media?

I don't think that option would really be needed as if you were already in a boot environment you would most likely need either a full recovery or a full backup.

Thanks

+1 for this!
Would be a great addition in case, you can't boot your OS correctly due to physical issues, but want to backup the data to another location.

We had the issue, that a physical Server got corrupted in such a way, that it wouldn’t boot anymore, but we were able to save the data using acronis.
Would be great if VEB could do this too!

Thanks for the feedback!

Out of curiosity, was the hard drive somehow damaged?

Hi Dima,
the problem wasn’t directly linked to the HDD. We didn't locate the exact point, which caused the Problem.
I guess the controller caused the problem, but the whole thing wasn't completely reproducible as the problem appeared rather spontaneously than continuously.
I was happy enough, that we somehow managed to backup the data.

I was wondering if this feature of creating an image from a bootable USB device is still a possibility in future releases?

+1 for cold backup feature in boot cd or usb key!
This could finally replace another vendor's image-backup software we use for cold cloning PCs (servers).
