upgrade to Veeam 9 and now fails on exchange low space

HI Folks,

We received warnings on Veeam 8 for an exchange snapshot but the backups took place. Now after upgrading they fail with insufficient space on production drive error but the space is the same. We have a case Case # 01702121 but nothing back yet.

831MB.. which I know is not very much. My problem is that the admin knows that it was working before the upgrade albeit with a warning and then I do the upgrade and bang....

it is Hyper-v and the space issue is on the host.

If there was simply some setting to make this behave as it did in Veeam 8. The space issue will be addressed.

Yes, Veeam requires that you have at least 2 GB of free disk space, otherwise there is a very high chance that snapshot will overfill the volume and crash your production server. Fixing this situation will not be easy, and may result in extended downtime.

However, if you are feeling adventurous, you can reduce the minimum required free disk space amount using BlockSnapshotTreshold registry value in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication key. I highly recommend not doing this though, and free up some disk space on the volume instead.

We had this functionality in the product since v2 or something, but I believe it did not work reliably in Hyper-V under some circumstances before v9, which is why you were able to create backups of that VM before.
